Will getting Lasik affect night vision?

It is very unlikely that a well-performed LASIK procedure using the best diagnostic and laser equipment would adversely affect your night vision.

While it is very common to see halos and rainbows around lights at night in the first 90 days or so, these typically decline to insignificance, if not near zero.

Getting this kind of result is dependent on being a good candidate for LASIK in the first place. For example, patients with myopia (nearsightedness) over about -7 Diopters are not as likely to do as well as described. Patients over 50 are going to have presbyopia and a certain degree of natural lens discoloration that will predispose one to a greater likelihood of night vision problems than younger patients.

At one time pupil size was felt to be a risk factor for night vision issues post-LASIK but this is now known not to be the case when wavefront-type (the newest and best) LASIK treatments are employed.
