Reasons you may not be a candidate for LASIK eye surgery?

The most common reason is the degree of myopia (nearsightedness) being too high. Since there is a direct relationship between how much myopia there is and how much corneal tissue will be removed, very high prescription treatments can thin the cornea to an unsafe degree.

Another reason is any unusual anatomical features of the cornea. These can indicate a vulnerability to the laser thinning process.

Still another common reason is poor tear production, often associated with certain medicines or autoimmune conditions (e.g. arthritis).
