Is there a cure for eye floaters?

There is no non-surgical way to get rid of floaters or other vitreous problems. Vitreous floaters are a normal part of aging and only rarely a sign of something vision-threatening. They are more common in nearsighted (myopic) people and often reported after cataract/IOL surgery.

There are some who find improvement or relief from bothersome floaters with repeat treatments of a special YAG laser.

A surgical vitrectomy can remove floaters along with the vitreous but carries a significant risk of causing a cataract in the natural lens. If the lens has been replaced by an artificial lens implant (IOL), vitrectomy is much easier and safer.
