How often should I have LASIK redone if my vision changes?

LASIK, in my professional opinion, is not something that should be repeated serially throughout life. Each additional laser treatment of the cornea further thins (and weakens) it. It also compounds the subtle irregularities of the surface that often cause undesirable optical side-effects, especially at night.

Furthermore, most changes in our vision after age 40-45 are not caused by the LASIK "wearing off" but by age-related changes in the natural lens of the eye, such as Presbyopia. In general, these kinds of natural lens-caused changes in vision are not going to respond as well to further LASIK as was the case the first time it was performed.
