Atlanta Native Eugene Smith, M.D., Brings Oculo Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Skills to Woodhams Eye Clinic

ATLANTA (Aug. 19, 2015) – Some Woodhams Eye Clinic patients won’t just feel as if they’ve regained their youth after undergoing one of Woodhams’ vision-correction procedures – they will look younger, too, thanks to the addition of Atlanta native Eugene Smith, M.D., who specializes in plastic and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and face. Dr. Smith is a Diplomat of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery who has performed thousands of plastic and cosmetic procedures. He is also a member of the prestigious American Society of Oculo Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).

“Whether undergoing Presby-fixTM, LASIK, PreLexTM or any other of our vision correction procedures, our patients really do feel as if clocks have been turned back because they can see more clearly than they have in years,” says J. Trevor Woodhams, M.D., founder of Woodhams Eye Clinic. “We are excited to expand our practice with Dr. Smith, whose extensive expertise will further help our patients feel and look their best. He will be a tremendous asset to our patients.”

“Atlanta is home, and I’m so proud to return to help members of the metro Atlanta community see more clearly – and look and feel their best,” says Dr. Smith. “Beyond aesthetics, oculo facial plastic and reconstructive surgery plays an important role in vision-correction procedures and gives people yet another reason to choose Woodhams Eye Clinic for the very best, most comprehensive approach to eye care.”

Dr. Smith attended college at the United States Air Force Academy and the University of Georgia. He graduated in the top of his class from the Medical College of Georgia, where he received awards for excellence in anatomy and earned an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society membership.

He went on to complete seven years of post-graduate training in surgery and medical procedures, interning at the University of Hawaii Department of Surgery Transitional Program and completing residency in ophthalmology surgery at Brown University.

Dr. Smith was selected for a prestigious fellowship under the direction of world renowned cosmetic surgeon Robert M. Dryden, M.D., at the Arizona Centre for Plastic Surgery in Tucson, Ariz. He then completed an additional two-year fellowship at the Plastic Surgery Center of the Pacific (The Flowers Clinic) under the direction of Robert S. Flowers, M.D., a board certified plastic surgeon and internationally renowned expert in cosmetic plastic surgery.
