COVID:19 How It Impacts Your Eyes

Everyone is concerned about the Coronavirus pandemic as are we! Here is what you need to know on how it impacts your eyes …and your eyecare at Woodhams Eye:

COVID-19 is overwhelmingly spread by people who are already sick with the virus and infect others with their sneezing and coughing. If you have an upper respiratory disease, even a simple cold, it is best for now to stay home. Treat that problem first. If you develop conjunctivitis (red eye) but have no pain or visual changes, we can generally help you over the phone and with internet connections to your pharmacy. Call us.

In both clinic and surgery, we treat every patient as if they might have been exposed to Coronavirus. Precautions include wipe downs of all equipment between each use and hand washing between patients. In surgery, we use masks, gloves and gowns to protect patients and staff. Disinfectants, state-of-the-art sterilization practices, and single use of disposable materials have dramatically reduced the possibility of any infection to near zero. Our CDC guidelines are implemented immediately as they updated daily.

Please reschedule your appointment if:

  • You have fever, coughing, or respiratory symptoms.
  • You have traveled in the past 14 days from China, Iran, Italy, Japan, or Korea
  • You have been in close contact with a person suspected of having coronavirus or that has traveled to the above countries.

Fortunately, our clinic deals with healthy and non-compromised patients for the most part.
