LASIK Surgery
Although LASIK is currently the most popular vision correction procedure, it is certainly not the only one, and it may not be the best for you. Woodhams Eye Clinic offers a number of procedures, including some for which Woodhams is/was an FDA clinical trial site. Woodhams Eye Clinic has been on the leading edge of vision surgery since the early '80s.
Since Dr. Woodhams began performing vision surgery in 1983, Radial Keratotomy (RK) became the standard, but was replaced by Photorefractive Keratotomy (PRK) and by LASIK, as well as the newer, more precise IntraLASIK™. PRK Lasik and IntraLASIK™, along with several newer procedures, such as Implantable Contact Lens (ICL), are options for vision correction. Dr. Woodhams, experienced in the entire range of procedures, can help select the one that is proper for your particular vision problem.
Below are brief descriptions of each of the laser vision correction procedures, as well as other vision correction procedures offered by Woodhams Eye Clinic.
ABOUT LASER VISION CORRECTION
- LASIK and Intralasik – Still one of the most popular procedure because it is more precise and problem-free than the procedures it replaced. For a detailed explanation of LASIK, click here.
- LASEK - Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis - is used mostly for people with thin or flat corneas who are poor candidates for LASIK, because LASIK requires the removal of more tissue for success. It is a relatively new procedure, and has somewhat more discomfort afterward and a slightly longer healing time than LASIK
